These people have been cold calling us for weeks. I assumed they were scammers but we don't need a new boiler anyway. :scratchhead:
We had the same thing a while back, the same recorded message about 4 times a day for 2 weeks.
Press 9 to opt out, 20 minutes later phone rings again :banghead:

I've no problem with the scheme or anyone who makes use of it, but I don't need to be told about it several times a day.

There will be a lot of farmers who either have a young family or are coping with serious health issues and on a low income who will be eligible for income support / family credit or whatever they call it these days.

We had a new boiler last year.,after a flag up from the forum of the firm involved,Green Energy?,I think they were.My wife thought it was a scam, but after a brief house energy survey a new boiler and plumbers appeared and duly fitted it.A short time later another plumber called to check the fitting of the boiler for quality assurance and had a long list of things wrongly fitted and said they would have to come back to rectify the faults. They never did,so our usual local plumber sorted the problems,so we got a more efficient condensing boiler for a small cost .
For information we received child tax credits previous to the scheme year, paid a wallop of tax the same year and this year AND have to repay most of the tax credits aswell:(

There is a good legal scheme and there are the con phone calls - different lot. I get them constantly. I now ask lots of questions and keep them talking for ages, or ask for a postal address which usually makes them hang up pretty quickly.
What annoys me is that BT has the technology to stop these, but of course they are making a profit from them. They can sell you something to stop them too, but hang on, I am a customer and would like BT to stop them as part of my rental agreement. Especially as some of them can get very rude and abusive and there is nothing you can do about it. BT should protect their customers from this but they do not care.

For some time now BT have been, and remain, a total shower of sh*t in this regard. I know for certain that they could screen out >99% of these calls overnight because I have heard a top BT executive say so, I am also aware that this same man gave media interviews saying, and I paraphrase here, that 'this sort of thing is not easy to fix and can't be made to go away at a flick of a switch' - whereas, in fact, it can and does in several countries.

Changing the subject, I have heard a rumour that there is a Court case ongoing - sub-judice - that has been brought by some people from somewhere in the UK who, as a group, are suing a large telecoms company. Their action is for breach of contract and duty of care by placing their commercial interest above that of their customers' privacy, confidentiality and a couple of HRA tracks are being followed too. If, and it is a fair sized if, but if this action succeeds, we will all see a very, in fact instant, change in the number of cold and nuisance calls we get - very probably to as near as dam it zero.

However, the rumour is that, unsurprisingly, the company in question is throwing an enormous amount of effort and treasure in to its defence. My best guess is that the matter won't be settled in less than eighteen months and will probably take double that time, if not more.

But, then, it might just be a rumour and no more, such is often the case...

We had one last month for my grandma. New oil boiler. Blokes say government no idea how many oil boilers so it's a start to count them. Think you need to be on pension credit no income savings etc.
