Arla marketing genius!

Just been shopping with the wife and I was sent to get some milk( little one coming onto cows milk but don't want to put her onto tank just yet) so I thought I would have a nosey around.

On the top shelf I found something called "big milk" for ages 1-5. It had extra vitamins added in especially for young children and was even approved by mums net.

The best bit is it's retailing at £2.25!!! Over double the price of a standard bottle on the shelf.

You would hope that all of that extra isn't just lining a supermarkets pocket though

Does that mean the normal milk that we were all brought up on is not as full of goodness that it once was?

Didn't have organic milk in the supermarket or on the milk float when I was a child, surely exactly the same issue over need could be said for that?

The aim is to create a differentiated selling point to generate more income for both supermarket (to get them on board) and producer.

Bit like the omega 3
You can buy milk with it added
You can buy milk with cows fed it
Or you could buy organic with it naturally occurring.

Maybe milk was more natural 40 years ago?

In summer maybe, I can't imagine it's much different in winter.

Anyway the product in question does not claim to be higher in Omega 3.

Do you have proof? Have yiu checked with someone before making accusations ? I get slated for that ;)
I didn't say it was i used omega 3 as an example. Its better to buy a product where a substance is naturally occuring such as iron in spinach than pop a pill? Or fortify a product?

There there, calm down

If you read my post you'll see it starts with the words "I can't imagine", it's hardly an accusation. Do you have evidence that omega 3 levels are higher in organic throughout the year?

There have been studies done that show that a grass based diet gives increased levels of omega 3 throughout the year.
Maize and concentrates do not.
Your milk may also have these benefits but sadly its all poured in the big Arla pot.

I'm sure someone who is an elected representative of dairy farmers is just happy that the biggest single group of farmers that they represent has come up with a way of adding value to their milk and have managed to call the market for fortified food just right :)
The question i asked was has milk changed over the last 40 years.
Forum members moan when people buy coconut, almond, hazelnut milk. They moan when people buy quorn. All of which is sold by marketing yet ask a simple question and get shot down.

On one an aside do i always have to wear the NFU cap?

Doesn't have to be organic though
