We ha

had a bad go at our last audit , nothing was right for her :( .
That was January, can you imagine my delight to receive a letter from arla last week informing me any more major non compliance and I'm out .

Interesting. Would that be an instant termination of contract or would you still have to supply your notice period?

Lets face it, if you'd had enough and thinking of jacking it in and that lot start coming in and asking for stupid things that cost money they probably told them to stick it where the sun don't shine and sat back and waited for the letter.

When my dad stopped milking in the late 90's dairy inspector was the last straw. came in demanding this that and the other with a 30 day warning letter. Back a month later and the cows were all gone.

You tow the line or find something better to do with your time, simple as that.

I have just had an assessment.

No Collation of drug use
Small puddle of water in Dairy
Tank not been serviced/checked in previous 12 months. (2 years since anyone has been at the tank and it is still cooling milk as fast as we put it in!)

Nothing to worry about and easily sorted.

RT should have picked up tank service?

Farmer I spoke to today told me of two issue found.
200l drum in straw shed. Plastic waste not disposed of correctly.
2 sheets of cladding missing from another shed. Not visually appealing so therefore anothet black mark.

Both seem quite petty?

Sorry to ask a stupid question but what do you mean by “collation of drug use”

Our vet went through our invoices and totted up the number of everything we had used, and made some comments on it, nothing too onerous. Apparently we don't use a lot which is nice to know, as I know we have too much mastitis in the winter.
On the other hand we don't have enough shelter for our calves over winter, bit too much fresh air apparently. I rarely treat any for pneumonia and never lose one. Presumably it is OK to use lots of antibiotics and lose calves so long as they have a roof over their heads. But I didn't get awkward with them and I think that is a big difference in how you get on. Some of the tales she told make your toes curl.

Staff numbers increasing.
Liabilites have increased nearly 3 fold.
No dividend to be paid.
