What's the benefit to Arla?

Small co-op,68 members, 45 million kilos of milk.

In Sweden Arla have seen a year on year reduction of milk by around 6%, so would of thought that will help increase milk intake in the short term. In the long term until Arla have been through the process of Internal clarification we will not know much more.

Because of Arla's dominance in the Swedish market, competition law gives any individual dairy farmer in that country the legal right to supply Arla should they choose to do so. If Gerfleortens are under pressure, then the decision could be should we join as individual members or offer Arla the entire co-op?

Arla will carefully look at the value of their business and make a decision in the best interests of Arla owners.

I think things have changed slightly as there is now a joining fee of 5 cents per litre consigned. Where as before they just would leave and join as they liked.

Yes, I cut out the middlemen and use our own milk.

I'm back drinking farm milk now but wife stopped when knocked up last year then just as young one was born we had big TB outbreak last spring followed by small salmonella outbreak last autumn so wife and daughter are on the bought stuff. It's quite handy really because we live a couple of miles from the cows and we were forever running out of milk but now there's always a few Cravendale bottles in the fridge.
