I had the exact same with the assessments- Big difference of opionions on the cleanliness. I assume since we are all saying this then they will look at it. I suggested they should use the AHDB welfare assessment scales but although that would suit us UK farmers I guess each country will have different opinions.

On the 'My news' section, below the Morrisons announcement.

Pretty much as I had thought , the good thing here as well is it keeps the 10p in the UK , preventing a Muller farmer ringing up watchdog pretending to be a consumer outraged that their ten pence was shared outside the UK !

True , but probably would equate to circa three hundredths of a penny by the time it's shared across the whole of the seven member regions , again just doing simple maths in my head

It's the principal of what we keep being told is a co-op working for the greater good.
Everyone fought tooth and nail last year when we came under criticism to bang home the message that we as a company would follow our principal and pool that money and we'd get a share of the benefits from other parts.
Seems that's all out the window Now and we will just do as Morrisons wishes and basically end up with a pool just like Tesco had and look where that ended....... they are no fools.

For the interests of fairness who has been offered this contract? Are it the biggest defenders of Arla on here the ones that are on board? I didn't
@meekers @bar718 @Fergieman @farmer on a bike

Yes I will declare that we have been offered the Morrisons contract but I will also add that I have sat on the Morrisons working group for about 7 years meeting up with the various people from Morrisons on a regular basis to talk about different agricultural matters where we shared common interests .

As an outsider...
It seems to me....
1, It doesn't matter what Arla do some will complain
2,UK milk prices are far higher because of Arlas presence in the UK.
3, The way Arla is structured means the only way it can tender for supermarket contracts where the supermarket wants to reward UK farmers is the way the morrisons one has been done.
4,Only Arla farmers can find numerous ways to complain about a massive new value added contract.
5 Only Arla could fudge up the announcement of a massive new contract.

Sound 100% correct to me:bag:

I think that the 'common good' part of this deal, is that it is selling members milk, by one means or another, and if arla said 'no we can't do business like that, go and see Muller' it would do us no favour at all, especially when the tanker driver tells me that Aylesbury is only running at around 50% capacity

I can go along with that , even point number 5 . With the timing of the announcement being out of Arla's hands it was known that members would be unhappy with the lack of information coming out of Leeds about what was happening but they could not get around the fact that it was the customers ( Morrisons) choice of when the announcement was made to get the best publicity they could for the initiative.

We have been offered it along with, from what I could see all Dorset Arla farmers who are not Tesco or Organic. Initially I was suprised because our milk has previously been sent to Aylesbury, Westbury and Taw Valley depending on need. But as a result of the increased throughput from the Morrison deal our milk will now be taken to Aylesbury almost all the time, so there is logic to it.

I can understand the dislike of this situation but a lot of pressure has been put on by competitors, farming unions, press and even, disgracefully the AHDB dairy about the milk for farmers money going to all Arla farmers. This conveniently side steps that problem, gets Morrison up with Sainsburys, Tesco, Waitrose etc, but at the same time gives a better deal for all Arla farmers because of the increase in the volume. In addition the link to individual farmers who are Arla owners does help to lock in Morrison to Arla for the longer term.

arla need to take a long hard look at themselves and think about what they say and do ,more information on here than they put out themselves with no consultation with members/owners. Rest of post removed think about why
