Arla

arla need to take a long hard look at themselves and think about what they say and do ,more information on here than they put out themselves with no consultation with members/owners. Rest of post removed think about why

Morrisons wanted to lead the PR on this. But in the mean time Arla had to start the process of getting commitment from the farmers. Arla did try to flag up what was happening on the Arla Farmers website where all owners could view it, with out it being released publicly.

I try to answer questions on here. I think perhaps in future it maybe better if owners questions were asked and answered on the Arla's own forum, which would answer your criticism.

I wasn't taking it as you having a go, I have just being trying to work out how we could inform members better while still complying with the wishes of our customers, because clearly the lack of information ( albeit some information was on the web forum and there were reasons) has created some upset amongst owners

So what % of Arla members actually access their members pages on Arla site?
When I ask the question........................very, very few.
Not one company has ever conquered the best way to communicate with farmers - and as the ways to communicate increases, I don't see anyone having the answer just yet!

@farmer on a bike I realise the forum is relatively new on the Arla website but if you want people to start using it then a good start would be getting someone at Leeds to keep an eye on it. There was a question posted a month ago about dates and last time I looked it still hadn't been answered. The video you keep referring to was a long way short of explaining this situation to your members. It only mentioned the 50 Milk For Farmers producers, nothing about the other 400 million litres, nothing about the "cost compensation" and a promise of future updates which clearly never happened. I think you have misread the situation if you believed that 90 seconds of footage would be a sufficient explanation to the membership.

I agree it is lacking in detail, but I hope you now understand that Morrison wanted to lead on this. There is now much more info on the arla farmer website since Morrisons have launched and immediately someone has re-posted it from the owner forum to Facebook, pretty much proving the management right, making much more difficult for any of us to argue for greater openness to owners.

It is well over 50%, but I agree with you. The idea is to encourage farmers to use it by directing them there for info as much as possible. I know there can be issues with connection in rural areas but the vast majority of dairy farmers have now worked out ways to connect to the internet

Never good airing dirty laundry in public.

Really?? I don't believe that, I am always playing around with the milk price calculator or looking at my production or quality

Suppose i'm a bit guilty of not using it. I only go there when directed to off here:oops:.

The forum bit has good potential i think. It does need to be supported however.
If some numpty is lifting things off it and reposting somewhere else, he needs a bollocking.

Agreed I use website 4/5 times a week and it's good.

It was actually me that asked the date question, which I recently repeated and it was deleted off the forum.

The milkline/helpline people are top notch

As a BoR member we did at one time get given dates but there have been occasions when the date has slipped because of business reasons,, which maybe why it has not been published. I will try to find out at the UKAF board meeting tomorrow.
