At first glance it seems odd to have a first minister who isn't in charge of the party. But then, Michelle O'Neill isn't Sinn Fein party leader either. In fact, the party leader isn't actually the party leader - it's the IRA army council. So who will really be pushing the buttons up there on the hill is anyone's guess.

Good or bad ?

Bad, i can't see him bring the "young" vote to the DuP and with out that, the party will die out

He is a farmer and the son of a farmer. He studied at Greenmount Agricultural College. He is presently the Agricultural Minister and has said he wants to retain that position. He has been a good Agricultural Minister.

going to greenmount is no big deal, at the time he went if you could spell your name right you got in, and i don't think he been a good Agricultural Minister. he failed to back the farmers conned into taking RHI. not believing in climate change he dragged his knuckles in getting climate change policy out allowing Clare Bailey to put her bill to the forefront which is now getting support from the other parties due to the lack of anything else .

and if you look at his history as a minster he doesn't make the hard choices. always runs to the easy/safe position. look at the fbis tier 1 grants. instead of enforcing the rule that if you had already got money from the grant. you can't reapply. he played it safe allowing those who had already got money and therefore most likely have a high point count and so will succeed in getting the money AGAIN, and has kicked the can down the road in other issues

So someone can't be good at their job because of their religious beliefs?

I can't be a good farmer because I share his religion views?

So tell us, what can or can't you believe to make you good at your job?

it not that having religious beliefs make him bad at his job. it that he has enforced HIS religious beliefs on others by applying his Fake beliefs (and by this i don't mean that religion is fake but that he claims to be religious while quoting chapter and verse of the bible to justify his choices while totally ignoring the bible and what it says. when said choices would go against his political views) when making choices in his departments ignoring the sound scientific advice that goes counter to his beliefs

Michelle leads in the assembly though. If SF were returned as largest party in next election I’d expect her to be first minister too.

I will say this with some sensitivity to the posters from northern Ireland, the trouble is she represents crown and government and some people in north Ireland won't respect or acknowledge that, that is there choice I will also add to either respect or listen to what she had to say.

Well. Sort off. She doesn’t represent the crown or government, she represents everyone in Northern Ireland on behalf of a power sharing executive.
But I understand what your trying to say. Some view her as representing a side that is aligned with British Identity rather than Irish.

Identity politics is still almost all of Northern Irish politics. Arlene herself was a fairly skilled politician.
