Served her purpose I think, she has/had a very large black cloud over her relating to the administration of the RHI in NI.

Looks like London have used that card to get Brexit done, and the NI assembly are not happy.

Latest instalment is she’s joining Fine Gael. She will be introduced to the party faithful by Leo Varadker and Simon Coveney.
Ta failte romhait a Arlene, agus cead mile failte!

As usual, from possibly the best by a distance, political correspondent in the world. Tony Connolly sums Arlene, DUP, Brexit, and the protocol up in crystal clear fashion.

Wouldn't it be marvelous if the Southern Irish could manage to stand on their own feet, leave the EU, and trade freely and mix freely with the UK.

Now that the C Church has lost its grip on its members, and if mixed education were to become more and more the norm, the two parts of Ireland might gradually merge as one nation within a couple of generations.

Unfortunately, their use of the Euro is a major impediment.

There is zero appetite in Ireland to cut ourselves off from that massive, on our doorstep market of the EU. The really noticeable thing in trading terms since Brexit, is that ROI has lost significant trade to its biggest trading partner UK, but has recovered more than 90% of that in other markets. Both in EU and in the wider global trade network where EU has established trade agreements.
Meanwhile UK exporters have been utterly shafted by Brexit, and are not finding other markets to replace that lost trade in anywhere equal measure.
Britain has signed up to international agreements with the EU over the past 12 months or so, and within months unilaterally broken those agreements. Politically it’s not a trustworthy partner. In fact it’s own devolved regions now don’t trust it, and with very good reason. Ask NI unionists! Rather than drawing ROI into its perfidious embrace, it looks more like UK itself is imploding from within.

So I’m seeing Arlene expects to be able to command £30k for a speaking engagement. Wow!!
Good for her.
Also some hints that she has been offered a lucrative deal to write her memoirs! Apparently she is so upset at how she was “dumped”, she may be willing to write a “warts and all”, story on the inside shenanigans of the DUP and others.
That could make an interesting read.

I think there are just two words that will stop her, or more accurately two sets of initials - PMS & RHI.

I think if she points too many fingers at those in the party, a few new allegations about her involvement in the above two affairs might surface.

Interesting times!

You seem to know exactly what has happened to all manufacturers in the UK then. You say they have been “shafted” and haven’t found other markets. Now I don’t know one way or the other about that, so how do you on an individual basis then??

Did I mention “all” manufactures? No. You did.
I take my info from various government stats and what individual industry bodies, report as being simple facts.

Ok you said exporters - fair enough. when did government stats ever be reliable? The true picture is not yet clear - its only been 5 months. We aren't dead yet!
