ARM pick up hitch clevis

Would anyone happen to know ware I would find a replacement clevis for the ARM drawbar, out of my 1394. Someone’s obviously lost the proper one sometime and badly fitted whatever they could find.

Is that a picture of yours, because it looks like an original one. They were never a good fit, in fact the whole hitch usually has plenty of play.

It is, but it’s definitely not original non of the holes line up, it’s about 3/4” too narrow and 3/8” too thin. This one Looks like the clevis from a old solid drawbar.

Sorry, had a closer look, it is a bit on the small side.
Unless you're after originality I'd make what you have fit.

Couple of possibilities here

Or any good breaker, but expect them to only sell the complete drawbar.
 
im not too worried about originality, just want it to work easily and safely.

I was hopeing these where fitted to other tractors and still available, But it’s not looking good

I don't know if it helps you widen your search.
Our Y reg (1983?) Fiat 880 had a pick up hitch with a clevis hitch just like that. From memory one part was fixed and the other detachable, the detachable piece was always a little loose.

They were fitted to many different brands and models of tractors. Very prone to wear. In fact I completely wore out one on my JD2140 [seen in recent pics I posted] in 5000 hours even though it was lubricated fastidiously. The front pivot pins, the wedges and the part that sits on top plus the holes in the frame for the wedges to turn to release the hitch, plus the drawbar itself and the two securing pin holes were all prone to wear badly. I welded plates on top of the wedges twice to keep the hitch raised safely and welded filler runs on the frame underneath where the drawbar/hook rests. Also welded a fillet of steel on the frame above the hook point to close the gap further. Yet it still wore all those out.
Not sure whether I've still got the old complete hitch in a shed somewhere. I doubt it though as I haven't seen it in years. Probably gone for scrap.

Yes, that's a typical bottom frame, the parts that move up and down when hitching. There are many different designs of number 33 and parts seen above it of course, to suit different brands and models of tractor. Similarly the latching mechanism and frame bolted to the tractor varies for the same reason. The parts seen below the lift rod, number 33, are universal for that type of hitch.

I can only assume that the leak is on the tractor if the above hitch is fitted. Removing to find a leak behind the frame simply means removing however many attachment bolts there are present and jacking the unit down.

I think I’ve still got one from the 1594 we had. Seem to recall we snapped the hook on a vibrating roller but the clevis was ok. If I remember I’ll look tomorrow.

Yes it is an ARM but a very unusual application. I've never seen it on a tractor that heavy and with independent hydraulic lift. That hasn't been used much because there is very little wear in the pegs and holes on the back of the top frame, where the latches pivot or in the drawbar clevis.
It really isn't a particularly strong hitch and has far too many fast wearing points including the front pivots, the latching and supporting mechanism and the pins and holes used to attach the drawbar/hook itself in the lowering frame. Even the crossbar underneath and supporting the drawbar wears and a combination of wear points leads to massive play and unacceptable hook clearance. All quite soft metal with zero bushing. No matter how it is maintained and lubricated it still wears badly in work.

This one is in excellent condition and obviously hasn't had much work.
