I have a modern farm building 75" x 65" and looking to replace the asbestos roof.
Can anyone give me an idea of the total weight of the sheets and cost of removal from the building and then disposal.
Building is in Devon.

Best get onto a professional company. Dodgy stuff that.

Is there still a way that you could bury it but have to take note and mark the area. Used to be able to do it but not sure now.

we took down a old shed last year and it was said 50, ten feet sheets was 3 ton. So on that basis 12 ton.
The thing that pee'd us of was the sheets had to be removed whole, not smashed off, wrapped in heavy plastic and taped up. Then lowered into a large box skip. Then the lorry would go to the dump and tip them out, ripping the covering and smashing the sheets.

Why? If you've got the time and gear to do it I'd crack on. It's nice and damp at the moment and you can also spray it with sealer for added protection. Very little if any proof chrysotile azzy has ever caused asbestosis.
Bet those professionals would be quite good at bending you over.

Don't think you can bury it now.

This company have removed my big 6 asbestos roof sheets this week. http://environmentalcontracts.co.uk/ Just stacked carefully in the oversize skip with the pallet bars. It is charged by weight but the invoice to the contractors has yet to arrive. Shed is 30' by 90' (1984) and all sheets from the roof and both gable ends fitted in one skip.

I bow to your superior experience @RWG Contracts although I am sure that I unloaded a lorry carrying the whole roof for a similar sized shed (5000 sq ft) in four pallets and my loader at the time was a 2 and a half tonne lift.
Maybe the new fibre cement is lighter?

The weight of fibre cement is lighter. 4kg a square foot was was we used to work on where I used to work allowing for moss and the fact they're wet and the fact asbestos is heavier than fibre cement. When I worked it out I thought it sounded a lot but was just what I've been taught (y)

I'm surprised it wasn't fibre cement in 1984 ?
