The above link provides further detail on how tax relief can be claimed on any works carried out for removal and also reinstatement. We (AirSafe Environmental Ltd) carry out a lot of asbestos removal and reinstatement works on Barns in Scotland with the majority of our clients taking advantage of this scheme.

Happy to answer any questions or provide some costings for any project anyone might be considering.

The document says that the tax relief is only available to companies clearing up contamination on land acquired from a 3rd party, it appears its purpose is to encourage the clean up of derelict sites to prepare them for redevelopment, no use for ongoing businesses and not available for sole traders or partnerships.

I appreciate that the document doesn't go in to detail for each circumstance however I can confirm that a number of our clients have taken advantage of it including for Barns on farms that they have bought with the asbestos present. We also have a current client who is taking advantage of this for refurbishments of a factory in Glasgow. I am sure your accountant could provide some further clarity on this.
