No, some recover a bit . We had some last year which looked real bad , this year they have more leaf on them . I think i am right in saying you have had a dry summer and Ash trees like it wet which is probably why some of ours look better. Is cutting down the only cure?
We did a load of big ash along a road. One that looked reasonable (but we decided to take down anyway) did the same as you describe. The only clearing up to do was with a leaf blower. You would not believe it unless you saw it happen, it was like glass shattering. We had two big ones felled in the winter which had died completely, over 5 years. When they hit the ground all that was left was the trunk, branches exploded like balsa. Be careful.
This is the serious worry with taking down diseased ash trees as the branches are just so weak and unstable that they just drop and have the power to cause death below. We did a load of big ash along a road. Its important to know that Ash can and does at times split /fracture unpredictably normally, let alone having dieback. We had two big ones felled in the winter which had died completely, over 5 years. When they hit the ground all that was left was the trunk, branches exploded like balsa. Be careful.
same here everywhere as your driving alone you notice it now , in the hedges along by the rivers and streams, countryside going going to change a bitThis year it’s really prominent here.
Seen exactly the same around here. Trees that were looking totally dead three months ago still look shocking but have greened up from nearer the trunksLots of the big ash trees here were looking completely dead last year and I would have set about felling them if they had not been away from anything.
This year they have thrown new shoots from everywhere except the extremes and are looking quite good.

Desperate attempt to hang on I think. They are dying here also at a tremendous rate. They tend to send up shoots before the end but its unfortunately useless . Very sad. They do look pretty weird and I'm not sure how they will develop but I'm happy and amazed there is life in them!
Moisture seams to be having a massive effect as when the ground gets dry they look far more deadThey do look pretty weird and I'm not sure how they will develop but I'm happy and amazed there is life in them!
