I was just thinking the same as you, but you beat me to it. I would never put sewage sludge or municipal compost on the land because of micro plastic pollution, like wise use tree guards and I think it would be stupidity in the extreme to use Astro Turf as a cow track. But there are always farmers who allow those things on their land, but there have been instances where it has destroyed it.

I put some down years ago. Great for cows terrible for the environment. It started to degrade almost instantly and everytime it rains you would see plastic fibres running in the water. Landfil is the only option in the end. Can't believe its legal to make the stuff to be honest.
