So to summerise this thread. If you can slip the tip of your well greased shaft into the hole it’s a lot easier to then just thrust it right in.

:geek:
Yes but as I explained above I have to squeeze it between my knees at the same time. Seems to make the whole job easier

So i gather from this thread you hold the flange in one hand and shaft in the other then slide forwards till the balls pop out? And use some lube if necessary?
I think as you get older it's often useful to get some help - as watching someone else do it can be frustrating particularly when you know you could do it better....

Must say they are a shocking design.
But we have a similar design on the big baler which is excellent. Pull the flange back and it locks. Push it on to pto stub and it locks on automatically.
Can't fault it.

I actually like the collar lock a lot more than the pin since I have never had a collar get stuck while I can't even begin to count how many times I've had to take a hammer to the pins because they have frozen solid...

Some of the collar ones do have a little retainer that holds them back if you pull it back and turn it slightly, our kuhn power harrow does and that’s a fair lump of shaft

Are the collars any worse than a pair of buttons? Takes a keen helper and a bit of coordination to shove from both ends at the same time ;)
