Yup, had a quote for one of our drives, 1 mile and it was 92k0.2 miles £20k
Bought a new grain drier instead but I will get around to doing it one day!Are you pleased with it? Is there an edge to that??
a company we did an industrial unit for had the front yard block paved in 80mm it was a good base and then screed with 5" of semi dry concrete and compacted with a big diesel compactor plate and over blinded then block laid on it, this was 1988 lots of lorries every day and its not moved but the blocks have worn on the run up to the unit its had that much wear, I think the key to the successful drive will be a good kerb raceI have a lot of concrete driveway and yard by house which is well past it's sell by date so time to replace. I would really like something a bit(well a lot) more attractive than concrete, looking at Tegula block paving by the house and in front of a couple of business units(all same area), but before you get to this point there is 60m of main farm drive which I was planning on concreting but would definitely be better in the same block, in 80mm thick. This could be £20k in blocks alone. So the question is, is there anything else that would be more cost effective and look good, and take grain wagons? Concreting would probably be £10k in concrete so maybe extra is something I'm just going to have to bear.
Or plasmoor plaspave sorento , I use them in 60 mm ,grout them with a 10-1 dry sand and cement on a dry sunny day ,,vibrate it in ,sweep.of and hose down ,,every joint sets solid and no weeds grow throughHere are the Tegula blocks which I think look the best, and I’ve been told not to use anything other than Marshall’s as they will be the best in terms of not breaking and wearing the best.

I would have thought it would be tax and vat allowable can claim vat back since you can remove and sell them in the future?
You can claim the vat back if the drive is used as an entrance to you office or for deliveries ,,you cant if it's only for a patio round the back of your property ,,the one I did couple of years ago was an entrance to his business even though it was his house ,he had a printing shop in a separate building beyond his house ,,to get materials they had to come past the house so it classed as the business entrance ,,put 28tn of blocks in that and 50tn of hardcoreHere are the Tegula blocks which I think look the best, and I’ve been told not to use anything other than Marshall’s as they will be the best in terms of not breaking and wearing the best.

3 foot deep stone would be a fair cost alone if imported, we have laid that depth using our own stoneThe developers on this building site are putting alot of 200x100 x60 blocks down on the main roads in ,,for the base they have laid 3ft of hardcore ,then 3 inches of base tarmac,,once the builds are finished and all the wagons, forklift and dumpers have gone ,they then cover it with grit sand and blocks to finish ,,nothing can sink and it will get years of vehicles over it .
or just one of these in
It was ex site material ,,all the buildings and concrete from the old farm yard ,,it was cheaper to dig a big trench and bury it where the roads were going and all the spoil has gone back into the site as back fill3 foot deep stone would be a fair cost alone if imported, we have laid that depth using our own stone
