Just wondering is the Aubrac used at all in the UK?? They are a maternal French breed, easy calving, v good milk, no overly big, great converters, excellent feed efficiency and v good kill outs.
nice add ,They are that! Have a herd here in Wicklow, an hour from Dublin airport. Have circa 60 breeding pure females. I find them to b exceptional suckler dams. They have ample milk, good R grade confirmation, will calve down culard Charolais or blues no problem, easy to work with, and exceptional beef qualities!!!
In France they number closer to 150000 breeding females of which around 30000 are monitored. They are the fastest growing beef breed in France, and have the highest return rate of young people to farming of all the French breeds.
They have been in Ireland for fifteen with all seed stock, barring 3 embryos, being sourced from the top herds in France. There are now over 1000 breeding females in Ireland, and interest is growing. In our national bull testing station the Aubrac has consistently come up with the best feed efficiency figures year on year.
As a friend of mine says The Aubrac can b beaten on nearly every individual trait (blues have more muscle, simmental have more milk, saler have wider pelvis), but as a package they can not be beaten.
These could be the ones @Tim W mentioned back in 2013. 'Absolutely nuts' doesn't sound too promising! There was someone down by Shaftesbury with a big herd of them, speaking to someone who worked there in 2006-2008 they were absolutely nuts.
They are still there i think----a friend worked them for years, swore they were the nuttiest critters he had worked withThese could be the ones @Tim W mentioned back in 2013. 'Absolutely nuts' doesn't sound too promising!
Not sure? Why do Welsh Blacks get such a bad press on TFF? We've never had an issue with them!

Seems to be a lot of talk about temperament issues. I can't get my head round that.Welsh Blacks have udder issues. Or at least they did.
No, I'll give you that.
Go on. What breed are they supposed too be? Doesn’t look something too get excited about?
You’re right, but the cow looks like like she’d be quite willing to impale you with those horns !
