Dad bought a Ford 5000 cheap at an auction, comes home and takes me to collect it, tractors nowhere to be seen, pops in to the auctioneer, to both pay and find out where it's gone, " I didn't knock it down to you Charlie it was X who bought it", same surname.

Going back a few years, Dad always used to bid on the odds and ends of ag chems (when it was still legal to sell by auction)
Used to drive our agronomist mad - ‘what can we use this on?’ - but he had some terrific bargains for only a few quid sometimes. (Does anyone want a few cans of ddt?) JOKE by the way.....

Last year I bought a black Marconi, a digital Wile meter (just needed battery terminals cleaning) and an airflow meter in a box for about a tenner....

A long story. I borrowed it from someone who used it for a job and left it in his shed until they sold the farm. Tried to buy it but no one would give me a price or even tell me who actually owned it. So it's still here 5 years on. Brilliant bit of kit
You have probably just alerted the rightful owner.........

Always wondered, why sell the loader attachments mid sale and stick the loader on the end? I know if I bought a telehandler I would not bid on the attachments without securing the loader but having bought the loader the attachments would be worth paying a premium on for the convenience of not having to then spend time and transport sourcing from elsewhere.

I asked an auctioneer this, and teh reponse was along the lines of "that's how we like it...." Makes zero sense to me.

Various random things from York sale over the years, but a stand out is a 2011 3m Lynx DD front press, complete with rigid tines and hydraulic shatterboards - bought on ebay from an estate in Ipswich in 2015 for £2600. It had sat outside for 3yrs while the farm tried contractors for 3yrs, which had become a permanent arrangement. All it needed was a good wash! The auction ended at lunchtime, I paid via BACS, jumped in the pickup and pointed it South. New was £11500 back then.
Still got it, brilliant tool.
