It could just have run out of diesel ? Some of the S/H stuff I've bought barely has enough fuel to drive off the lorry. I just don't know how they manage it.:clown::asshat::clown::asshat::clown::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

I wonder what the terms and conditions of cheffins are , a decent bidding deposit sorts out a lot of sellers problems , this tractor in question was 30 years old and sold for handy money I'd say any judge would dismiss this case in favour of the seller

Cheffins offer no description at all. Just the basic facts year hours etc. Nothing described as gwo or anything like that.
Therefore totally sold as seen.
However it’s usually best to assume it won’t start and anything better than that is a bonus

yes and an
x ray machine to see is there anything inside the tractor that's still intact

Did YOU the seller have any starting problems with the tractor before putting up for sale ? (other than may be a old weak battery that was not holding its charged) Did you drive the tractor to the sell, or haul it due to the distance?

The op says neighbour , so the "YOU" seems a bit harsh. However you might know more then us?

Maybe it’s one of those professional auction sale goer, they get itchy hands and bids for things, then when they drop out after running it up the say “ooooooowwww I wouldn’t pay that much for that, there was one at a sale for half the price in 1975” then they got carried away and ended up with a tractor they didn’t really want!

'I' didn't drive it anywhere sorry , it was brought on a truck along with an agitator ,I'm also sorry for been evasive about details but it's still going on and i just posted it cos neither myself or the neighbour knew enough but the amount of information everyone has shared has helped a lot I think he has nothing to worry about

Years ago a good friend bought a Case 1594 sold as good working order. We paid for the tractor and went to drive it from the sale ground to find the hydrashift was slipping.
We went to the auctioneer with our complaint who was not very helpful. The seller of the tractor was Burgess who used to put a lot of equipment through the sale ground.
We managed to find a few regular buyers from the sale ground who confirmed that the auctioneer had announced that the tractor was in good working order who then backed down and refunded the money.
Apparently the tractor was supposed to be sold as seen and the mistake had been made by the auctioneer .
