Aussies resort to shooting cattle

Could they not set up an emergency mobile slaughter unit? Seems a bit daft that there's no abattoir in the north, yet there are vast numbers of cattle, and they're going to presumably waste them. I like the idea of sending them off for food aid-although if they are on the point of starvation, are they going to be worth cutting up:unsure:

The distances and temperatures are a little different than here.
If I set off from my house in Cheshire I could be in Cornwall in 6 hours. If you set off from a cattle station in Queensland, in 6 hours you might have reached the first petrol station.
Here if you want your cows you walk down the field and get them, in Queensland you phone a man with a helicopter to see if he can find them for you.

Very sad end for the cattle and very tough on the farmers out there. It is a very harsh place, nothing like here at all. Hell, I was moaning because my electric was off for an hour yesterday.
