Wife's cousin (NZ) used to shoot ewes having difficulty lambing, then when times got tougher he carried a sharp knife to save the cost of a bullet - Nowadays his son just lets them die.

That approach doesn't really square with "Kate Humble and Springtime Lambing Live" does it ?

I carry a bolt gun and a sharp knife on the quad when I'm lambing. If you keep livestock you should be prepared for the occasion when euthanasia is required.

I'm certainly not calling the vet to C-section a bloody sheep!

I also ear notch anything which requires assistance, so her and her lambs can go fat as soon as possible. Trying to breed the work out of them.
