Auto area recording?

I am on the market for a tractor gps for spreading slurry and fert, I would like auto area recording as there is enough going on at the headland when trying to turn the dribble bar without having to also press the gps screen. I can't imagine me using it manually whilst doing a 3 point turn and opening/closing the dribble bar and diverting slurry back to the store momentarily etc

Does auto area recording exist, how does it work and who offers it?

I've a basic Trimble 250 and it does that.
You can either press the coverage button on and off at the headland or wire a coverage switch in to it. I usually have my switch wired to the spool valve handle so that it counts when the handle is in float position like on the fert spreader. You could have a contact switch mounted on any machine to suit.
I imagine other makes of GPS are similar.

Nice simple idea, unfortunately I am using a tractor with spools on buttons on the joystick. Suppose I could attach an extra button to the joystick but I would still need to remember to press it twice on every headland..

Difficult to tap to the joystick buttons but you could still reach the actual valve wiring (use a relay to isolate spikes from the valve drive). You did not mention any issue about using the machine parts that are hydraulically driven, have a switch somewhere there as suggested earlier in the thread?

Patchwork's BlackBox products have a feature called 'Auto Coverage Recording'.

This works by automatically turning off the area recording when coverage area is driven into, i.e. the worked headland.

The feature is available on the BlackBox AIR+, ECO+ and GO.

Visit www.patchworkgps.com or call the office on 01291 673366 to find out more about the products.

The simplest way to do this is to make up a probe with a pressure switch on it
Plug the probe in to the spool and plug your hyd pipe in to the probe
the switch has 3 wire so it can be either make or break for recording area with pressure on or off as with fert spreader and slurry tanker back door
bonus is it can be moved to any tractor the gps gets moved to
