Auto boom height control

Bought another sprayer and considering adding auto boom height control. Boom is only 28m so not massive width. A lot of fields I spray are undulating to say the least. Not many flat.

Do you think it's worth paying the extra for it? A arag unit would work with sprayers existing control unit. But doesn't do Vg, just controls height and tilt. Never had a vg boom before, sprayer I have bought has it and I think it would be a useful feature I would utilise.

Norac system which also controls Vg is 10k. Haven't had price back on Arag. @Matt77 Had fitted a arag system I noticed on another thread.

Any other options for height control to consider? Could retrofit it after sprayer delivered.

The Arag might be okay at 28m but you would be a lot better with the vg boom height control Norac 7 nothing below that. Not sure what other systems can be fitted to a landquip

The Arag system has it’s moments, you get what you pay for and it’s cheap, think it was something like £1400, I personally think it would behave much better with 4 sensors but Arag reps have been out and set it up and say it’s doing what it should, the system allows 4 sensors, it’s DIY fit which is handy, you need to unlock the delta 80 screen, I was told it wouldn’t work on the 400 but I already had the 80 so no problem, however I’d not buy it again!

Hopefully that doesn’t come across as all doom and gloom but it’s a disappointing system, and they won’t price me up for the extra sensors, I’ve given up really, I use it on pre ems where it works 80% of the time but I don’t even turn it on now for anything else, which is not good I know, other things more important going on these last few years and it’s got left on the to do list.

Norac uc5 - ok but not outstanding especially over 10 km/ hr but would still have it over 24 m.
Norac uc 7 - much better than uc5 even at 14 km/ hr but can still get caught out if a sudden hump/ hill but if a gradual change then it follows great. Negative camber is also very good, ie boom goes below level .
Have to be honest though as I have Norac system but Bateman have fitted electronic module to it ( they call it BBL, Bateman Boom Level)which Bateman them selves say is Norac uc7 plus, so my comment above re UC7 is actually Norac ? Plus BBL.
I run at 24/32/ 36m and it works very well even at 24 when they are facing the wrong way , just have to adjust height figures.

Phone Richard or David at Landquip, they won’t mind in the slightest if you are buying through a dealer, in my opinion I wouldn’t bother at 28, the boom is well balanced as it is and not worth the extra cost of a Norac system. Wider booms perhaps but I would struggle to justify it at 28m
Retro fit Norac is an easy option should you decide to upgrade at a later date.

Is go the extra for norac. I’ve seen it on landquip and when set up correctly ( needs doing per machine) it can match the system fitted to a Horsch

Definitely worth spending the extra money for the NORAC system providing it is set up correctly for the machine, would need a minimum of 3 sensors for the VG boom. Easy to say that when it’s someone else’s money I know but better than buying a cheaper version and forever cursing about it.
