Hi ,
No wondered if anyone had any experience with fodder feed growing systems . I know some have been around for a while , but we have the rights to a fully automated one .

I’ll bite. What is this ‘new system’? How well does it work at farm scale? What capital costs are involved in setting it up, including the feeding out side of things? Rough production cost per kg of DM?
If you message me with your email I will send you details. Full costs for all systems etc. Includes a video of the system .

Fully Automated fodder feed growing system
Smallest system
Depending on feed ratio & heard /flock size
(50%, 25%, 10% grass mix)
Cost +/- £135k delivered and connected
Production cost per kg
6.9p (£0.069 per kg) mains connected depending on supplier rates
4.7p (£0.047 per kg ) if using solar and borehole.
All approximate costs can vary depending on service providers and grain costs .

I think this was around a few years ago at the dairy event. Think they had it in a trailer and you pulled it out trays to feed young calfs. So it costs about £69/ton normal and £47/ ton on renewables.
The best one I've seen was a FB post from africa. Chickens housed on a mesh floor above a fish tank and the fish water was pupmed around a hydrophonices system to feed the plants.

How many kgs a day can this system produce?

I assume that's cost per kilo of fresh weight, not DM?

I think you need to lay out your numbers better than that. To wishy-washy to get me to you PM you for more details and I looked into this a few years back as a means of utilising spare solar electric and RHI heat. But it didn’t stack up or pushed money around at best. In the green grass growing Uk I think it’s a non starter. If you are in an area where you have to irrigate constantly to get greenery, it might stack up
