Hi Guys

Some pics of our established autumn sown crops, drilled from mid April thru to the end of May 2013.

I've also attached some pics in the cropping section illustrating the difference between our tilled and no tilled paddocks in terms of water logging

No Tilled Barley
All ex baled spring barley, no slug bait applied, pre emergent herbicide Firebird was applied at 500mls/ha.

No Tilled Wheat
All ex chopped oat straw, no slug bait applied yet. Pre emergent Herbicide Firebird was used. On the next suitable day we will spray Simplicity (oat spray) to remove any volunteers

We were impressed that worms were sitting just under the surface, considering that we have had cold weather over the past few weeks. The soil was still quite warm under the straw mulch

Hi

Yes we did last year. We drilled about 5kg at drilling then another 5kg later on. We re drilled some of our paddocks last year as the slugs hit them hard.

Think that the dry spring combined with the cold winter so far has kept them at bay, or perhaps we have a good carabid betle population
