Avena fatua(wild oat) herbicides in wheat

Hello

I'm a farmer from Eastern Europe. I have big problems with with wild oat and apera in wheat.
What actives are effective? Is chlortoluron effective?

Triallate pre emergence is good on oats. Granules but now available as a liquid as Avadex.
Fenoxaprop and clodinafop will kill wild oats.
Apera is silky bent grass family. Not normally a UK problem, so I'm not sure how to control that. We use more expensive sulphonyl ureas like Atlantis or Hatra (mesosulfuron + iodosulfuron) for blackgrass & I believe the Germans use it for these types of grass weeds.

Thank you very much ! Last spring I used Axial(Pinoxaden) from Syngenta. It worked on emerged wild oat but it didn't work on Apera. Also wild oat 2nd wave emerged late in may. I need a good residual herbicide at least for wild oat.

Axial is expensive but the only option on barley crops later in the season. Clodinafop (Topik) is ok up to growth stage 41 flag leaf sheath extending. Winter or spring sown cereals? I doubt you would make a residual last long enough.

I cultivate winter wheat in rotation with wosr. Fenoxaprop active also doesn' t work on apera and later wild oat waves. Do you use chlortoluron in UK? Is it effective and safe for winter wheat tolerant varieties? Only options left on our market are iodosulfurone, chlortoluron and the active from Atlantis. What do you recommend?

Chlorotuluron isn't much good over here and water pollution means it isn't really used any more. It was a useful part of a strategy against grass weeds but not enough by itself. We do have flufenacet for pre emergence or early post emergence but this isn't any use on wild oats.

When we could use Chlortoluron we used it pre em for wild oats
some times needed a contact spray in the spring
we eliminated wild oats in 10 years using roguing to remove the escapees

Rogueing wild oats following a good herbicide programme will eliminate them down to hand rogueing only in six years or so.

CTU was pretty good but you can only use it on tolerant varieties. Used to help with weed grasses. Wild oats used to emerge much later so I would never rely on it for that alone. Half rate axial will sort them.

Autumn germinating very effective but spring germinating no use depends which species predominates on your land

What about the Apera bent species? Loose silky bent is the German equivalent of our blackgrass & they have a stronger version of Atlantis for that.

I used to find CTU would keep a lid on a lot of the weed grasses I used to expect when ploughing out old pasture.
