Been asked by a few locals who keep poultry if/ when the avian flu housing restrictions are going to be lifted and have to admit I have not heard anything about it recently . Pretty sure the restrictions were lifted last year around now ??
Anybody know ? Thanks

We've just had a case nearby, we are just outside the 3km radius.
Wife has a whole 2 fowls, do we have to register them? Had a quick Google and it says over 50?
Thanks

After visiting Northumberland last week and seeing several dead birds on the beach, it’s sad to read this article

Its sad to read the following comment to the article, which I cut and paste without comment

There poor intensively farmed chickens must be infected if not the source of infection. We need to protect all birds from exploitation and disease. The RDPB needs to promote veganism in the interests of all birds. "

I have been informed that a Bird flu/Avian Influenza has been confirmed near Sandy, Beds. Be careful out there, as was said on Hawaii 5 O (i think)

There is 2 big units and I suspected the one near you and not the other one who is a member on here.

Any idea how many culled etc?
It's the one near me. 15 sheds in some of the fields now, it was asking for trouble really. No activity at all as far as I can see. A ghost town. Maybe culling will start tomorrow ?

Had trading standards turn up today because we are in a 3km zone from a flu case. We have a few hens probably 20ish. They are locked up since last week some time.

Anyway these people that came round.. surely they are probably spreading it!?? Going from farm to farm wandering in un invited, driving around all day. Where else have they been before my place? Where will they go next?
All seems idiotic to me.

I Spoke to a few people locally they all had visits. We are a fairly sparsely populated 3km zone so they could easily visit every property. I did hear they even visited the local traveller site which have some caged finches (they are nice people never had an issue myself)
