Ive been a firm believer in the see food diet .
See food and eat it ,,im not worried how much fat, stodge ,carbs or other nasties is in my food ,,brought up on a diet of fresh produce and home cooking
Yes but you, like many of us country reared folk, have lived on home produced healthy foods, where the nutrient density etc makes up for a few 'less healthy' bits.
A lot of the popuation live on processed foods full of added sugar and transfats etc.
I have said for years that it would be far cheaper to subsidise real food, than spend the £billions that the NHS spends treating obesity, diabetes, and heart disease etc.

Only reason a large % of the population eat these pre processed ,chuck in the microwave types of food is because they are now of an age that has never been shown how to cook from scratch ,,the days of grandma showing there offspring how to bake ,how to cook a joint of meat or even how to prepare the simplest of veg has gone .
If it doesnt come in a shrunk wrapped packet or has a fast food outlet name on the box ,,nobody knows how to eat properly anymore .
Only have look down any high street and see the lycra clad ,trachy bottom brigade waddling about stuffing their faces on these easy meals ,,no wonder why the cases of heart desease and unhealthy associated diet problems are wrife

Now I've got to be careful, with you being a lady farmer (I farm with two sisters), but hasn't this sex equality obsession got a lot to do with it? 50 years ago the girls did home economics and the boys did mechanics. Now no woman seems fulfilled unless she has grown bigger balls than her male counterparts. Both of the couple work, the kids are in care, and they live off crap readymeals because no one has time to cook. I'm not fussed whether it is the man or woman but if the tax regime etc was tweaked so that one partner stayed at home, cooked from scratch, looked after the kids etc society as a whole would be far better off. Too late now, but I wouldn't have minded being a house husband when the kids were growing up.

The problem with that (and the point I was trying to make), is that he regularly eats all the foods you are saying to avoid, and he has never had any objection to eating things that are burnt.

* You miss the point - its overeating that kills - good old fashioned gluttony - eat too much OVER MANY YEARS and you depart with a heart-attack, if you eat food that been burnt or overheated (you may develop cancer). A good clue to good health is investigating what cigarettes contain. Cigarette smoking is a leading cause of various cancers and diseases associated with inhalation of toxic chemical substances produced during combustion. Tobacco smoke is a source of toxic substances that constitute one of many classes of carcinogens, toxins, and addictive substances. Tobacco smoke been classified as Group I and Group A carcinogens, toxicity has been reported to cause anemia, headache, irritability, and renal damage

The problem is the growth of new chemicals (new chemical mixtures) and their domestic use in private houses, workplaces & food manufacturing. Contamination can occur through the skin, eyes, nose, ears, throats. A good clue is investigating what cigarettes contain. (SEE BELOW)

Cigarette smoking is a leading cause of various cancers and diseases associated with inhalation of toxic chemical substances produced during combustion. Tobacco smoke is a source of toxic substances that constitute one of many classes of carcinogens, toxins, and addictive substances. Various toxic heavy metals such as cadmium (Cd), lead (Pb), nickel (Ni), and chromium (Cr) from the smoke could be significant contributor to metal load in the human body in addition to the adverse human health effects via direct tobacco consumption (chewing tobacco)Toxic substance investigated in tobacco smoke have been classified as Group I and Group A carcinogens, toxicity has been reported to cause anemia, headache, irritability, and renal damage Cadmium is poisonous even at lower doses in humans as it disrupts different biological systems like lungs, liver, and kidney. In recent years, human contamination by cigarettes has become a major concern as it is a highly toxic carcinogen and in humans may cause death. My Question: Can the plastic packaged foods are packed in cause cross-contamination with the food it protects?
I think you miss my point.

Its a fact ,,fresh veg is cheap ,lidls are nearly giving it away ,theres loads of farm shops selling their own produce ,,its just that most of the younger generation havent got a clue what to do with it so they go for the convenience of pre packaged processed rubbish thats quick and easy

* I used to live in Seattle USA, a wonderful State, and of course we spent a great deal of time up in the hills in the tree logging country. Downtown there used to be the Seattle Museum, with one floor devoted to the timber industry. From the early 1800s through to the 1940s, when manual lumberjacking went into decline, these men lived in remote camps for months on end. Hours were very long and the work hard. Camps were often rife with disease and lice and the average age at death was 36. Even in 2008 the American logging industry had a fatality rate of 108 deaths per 100,000 workers, thirty times higher than any other industry overall. Lumberjacks and shepherds have truly always risked life and limb in their working days.

"(1) That cancer treatment including Chemotherapy is hopeless."
Just to bring up this comment again, for anyone diagnosed with cancer, what would you suggest, to refuse any treatment offered ?

To be honest having seen the inside of numerous nursing and care homes recently and to watch the slow deterioration of mum's health, I'd rather have 60 quality years eating food that you enjoy than to spend the last few years in a nursing home.
I still believe it's what is done/added to food that is the major problem, chemicals added (many more chemicals in the human body than there was years ago) salts and sugars added and it's mostly about increasing profits for major companies

Far safer than being president, 8 out of 45 of them died on the job,
