A Crown Napier daughter from ten generations VG and EX. Needs to grow a bit yet. Standing in a field that was for first cut last year and was never cut at all. Seems to have bounced back this year though.

Ayrshire’s seem to be back in Vogue here at Lessnessock. We always had a few but now numbers seem to be rising fast again and we have been lucky enough to buy into some amazing families. The main reasons are we are very much a grazing system now and margin is key but also kids started young breeders as it was friendlier than other breeds and they all just got into them. Being from a hill place and used to dealing with Galloway cattle I love the character of the Ayrshire and their zest for life. Too many of the black and white show calves are not here and our Barr Sandy Rose cow has been consistently in the kids lives. I think society wise the Ayrshire cattle society is a friendly and exciting place to be. Duncan and Sam are so encouraging and enthusiastic. The young breeders training program is exceptional. The kids show calves are now coming into the herd and it’s great to see the bonds they have with these cows. I look forward to many years with Ayrshire’s at Lessnessock.
