Much as I hate disbudding, I shouldn't want those horns about the place.
They just look like a bunch of R&W Holsteins
They’re obviously not Holstein enough, they’re selling them to up their numbers of pedigree holsteins. They just look like a bunch of R&W Holsteins
A sad enditement of where the Ayrshire breed has ended up when top breeders are selling up to swap overThey’re obviously not Holstein enough, they’re selling them to up their numbers of pedigree holsteins.
You'd think with more of a focus on milk from grass these days, the proper Ayrshire cow would be coming into her own again? It is sad. We only have a few ayrshires but the breed seems to be losing its identity. I don't know why. So much crossing with red and white holsteins, it's virtually impossible to find a 100% pure bull anymore.

Speak to the society, only place to buy any sense. UK sires have some, but not many sexed.Asked the ai rep for sexed ayr straws for few cows and he looked at me funny, mustn't get asked it often. Tried to put me towards straws fron vikings red genetics instead...
Is that true? I thought they were coming out of a tenancy on one farm and coninueing on the other? Both with mixed herds, but based on Ayrshires. They’re obviously not Holstein enough, they’re selling them to up their numbers of pedigree holsteins.
Problem with ayrshire is low bf and protein compared to jersey .calves are hard sold a grade above jersey. You'd think with more of a focus on milk from grass these days, the proper Ayrshire cow would be coming into her own again?
