B12 Deficiency

So lost a ewe last week and almost another this week. Vet thinks it's a B12 deficiency and since I have been injecting it the ewe has improved. So why would my ewes be deficient? Anyone else had similar problems?
Both had sore feet, both treated and seemed to be on mend, first started acting odd staring in to wall and always drinking. Gave prop glycol and within hours was dead. Second was pulled out in to an individual pen was eating and drinking well then went out Friday night and was lying on side looking dead. It is now sitting up and can stand if lifted.
Any ideas?

Had similar in Autumn, blind then flat out and head back etc, not like listeria no drool etc. Vet said CNN/B1 injected i/v first, then s/c for further 4 days. Sheep recovered in about a week.
Bottle of B1 was thick end of 50 quid though.

It (CCN) can be brought on by stress or a change of diet. Seems to be sporadic usually though, only effecting the odd one. Have you just housed them and changed the diet?

However, I had a load of lamb creep blend tipped in the shed a couple of years ago, for my early lambs that were still in then. In that group of 120 lambs, I had at least one down with it every single day. I didn't lose a single one, as I had the stuff there (cortisone jab once, then regular vit B1 jabs every few hours) and got so that I was looking out for it. When the creep ran out, and was changed for a different make, I didn't get another case. I suspect the blend manufacturer had missed out the vit pre-mix from the ration, but they say not. I haven't dealt with that national company since.

In since 28th December, both first timers but still by look of it month away. Unless it was stress of sore feet and me tipping them over but can't say there was any drama in it.

Apart from the lambs I referred to above, I've never been able to pin any case of CCN down to any particular change, but that's what I am always told is the cause. It never seems to effect more than one at a time here, and maybe only get one a year (which must be overdue by now:(). A strange sporadic thing normally.
