I am not really a doctor so don't follow my advice, but what I do now and again is swing like a monkey using my arms to hold onto something like a beam or a door lintel. This means my back is stretched out as the weight of my body pulls it down. This, I believe, helps discs and nerves pop back into place as they go under tension not compression. Works for me anyway. Damaged a disc years ago lifting the combine straw chopper back into place and when it flares up, the above works, or a trip to the chiropractor.
