I think the nfu preaching to the converted is a waste of time but give credit where its due getting clarkson on board is a masterstroke. Yesterday he had a double page spread in the sun about farming.
Like it or loathe it, its britains biggest selling newspaper. Cant get better than that

So on Back British Farming day the NFU-

Got hundreds of MPs to pledge support for our Industry.

Enabled questions on agriculture at PMQs.

Promoted a Westminster Hall debate on farming.

Gained widespread press attention by Minette and Jeremy Clarkson sharing a joint platform to promote and defend agriculture.

Useless indeed…
Not on the BBC news which I saw and heard - hey ho.

Pity most sensible folk don’t read the Sun..and I, in solidarity to the folk of Liverpool and not going to buy a copy.
Far more coverage about M&S closing 11 stores in France.

Irrelevant. It’s farming people telling farming people to back the industry they work in. The reach is pathetic and no one seems to realise how futile it is. We all know social media is an echo chamber with its algorithms.
Plenty of folks (public) asking what was stuffed in Boris' pocket whilst he was doing PMQ and Keir Starmer had his elegantly on display too .

TFF is still social media, public open forum.

As I said some want the NFU to distance themselves from RT, some want it to support it tooth and nail.

Can't win either way can they?

Exactly, no praise for that forthcoming though.

I am sure there are plenty of NFU bashers in here and said,
"What we need is Jeremy Clarkson on side promoting UK ag"

Well he is, so where is the praise? 🙄🤣🤣

I still think that the NFU need to up their game. And I still think that Clarkson is a knob. Can I have some TFF points for consistency ? :) .

Some folks are so far away from the issues we face on a daily basis that I find it hard to believe they have any sincerity at all.
What's bothering me as a farmer today.
Rejections of loads due to recent tightening of the ergot limits to stupidly low levels and applied inconsistently from one mill to another.
Lorry driver shortage could impact my beet delieveries.
Fertiliser getting scarcer and dearer by the minute.
No glyphosate available.
Does anybody care? Is anybody doing anything about it other than myself.
And they are standing there with some ears of wheat in their jacket pockets. Fat lot of use they are. Posturing windbags. No action.

By spouting rubbish about Red Tractor she is doing the opposite of supporting British farmers as she well knows.
if she wanted to support British farmers she would come out against imports being mixed in with Red Tractor.
I don't believe farmers are falling for this malpractice. We don't want or need a fraudulent RT

Desperately hoping that this BackBritishFarming day will finally change the fundamentals of the global grain market S&D. I heard on the grapevine that if we use the hashtag enough, the Mato Grosso rainfall will decrease and increase Nov futures.

PS: Do the NFU do a cost benefit analysis for the time spent on these campaigns, the shows they attend, the cost of running all the local groups etc? I struggle to see the value in any of it. Needs to be so so much leaner as an organisation. A dozen top lobbyists (recruit from the US!) paid a couple of million between them in a London office would probably do enough. Then get rid of the hundreds of people helping people with fleet discounts.
