Bad presentations

I'm not talking about feed company presentations when the main reason for going is the free buffet.

The other morning we had 8 hoggs lamb of which only 1 was a normal presentation. The others were breach, legs back, heads back etc. We lost 2 lambs and 1 hogg.

Is this just a run of bad luck or is there some reason that increases the likelihood of this happening?
The lambs were fairly big.

That’s why I let them run dry this year, lambed 70 ewe lambs last year most came with the head and 1 leg and they were all at least 50kg at mating

They're lambing single leg back presentations here ~ mostly without intervention ~ but there can be runs of trickier presentations that then just return to the usual. No rhyme nor reason.
It's a pleasure to watch the hoggs getting on with doubles. Not many have needed help... yet :nailbiting:

Miss presentations just happen I think, we had 47 backwards lambs in a row in 2018, even sets of triplets all backwards etc, 6 different breeds spread over a few mile. The next few days we didn’t have a single backwards lamb.

Diet/breed will have a big outcome on presentations. Leaner ewes lamb a lot easier. Since changing breeds on my ewe lambs and keeping a bit tighter pre lambing it’s rare we pull any with a ewe lamb

We seem to have got into a run of lambing stuck single hoggs after a great start with no interventions. Barest field ever so not over-fit. Should lamb fine next year I hope
