Bad start

Due to start lambing fri, had dead ewe this morning having delivered one fetid, deformed lamb, other still inside. Presume she died from sepsis, no symptoms at all last night. Hoping desperately that it is not the start of anything -not doing a pm unless we get another. No schmallenberg last year, but neighbour lost about 10% with another 10% with dodgy legs.Just wanted to tell someone :(

The worst it starts the better it will turn out across the board...

Wouldnt lose any sleep over one bad lambing tbh, with livestock you will sure as hell have deadstock!!

My dads 1st ewe had a dead single,he rang round bought a lamb then the ewe was dead this morn and the lamb has escaped,ffs you couldn't make it up,I did ask if he'd looked under the ewe for the missing lamb.:)

everyday for about a month prior to lambing start date on things willl go wrong as a rule of thumb with us, if nothing goes wrong then its rewarding!this year so far has been terrible so much so had to buy some ewes with lambs just to show that their is hope at the end of the tunnel!
