Any idea what conditions are like further west from you, and a long range forecast?
I possibly have a trip to Idaho in January, so interested what you forecasters are saying.

Spent part of a winter in Moscow, Idaho once----not as cold as Wisconsin but cold enough to keep me in the bar for the duration :)

Fella today told me we are well overdue the next iceage. Every iceage that has affected us has lasted about 100000 years withan ice sheet 1km thick as far south as the Thames and we are overdue by 500 years. he reckoned it'd be here about next Thursday:LOL:

It'd make a change that's for sure

I've been keeping weather records since 1962
I can't see any trend that would indicate a particularly bad time ahead
I fact my trend would show much the same as last year -
Yes we do generally get the American weather 23 - 24 days later But it doesn't always last long
You can remind me when your sat at your computers because you can't get outside for snow

Ohio is about a 30 hour or plus drive from Idaho. However, I know everything, so I will tell you what Idaho is like...

Warm sandy beaches, palm trees, señoritas bringing you drinks with little umbrellas in them while you watch the sun set over the potato fields.

Actually nothing like that.

Bring your cold weather gear. Parka, gloves, hat, insulated britches, sweaters. Wool is a priority to pack.

The worst i have experienced was -17 celsius but very little wind, i cant imagine what -19(-3F) feels like when its windy too. The wind adds another -10 basically.
We had weeks and weeks of -10 too -20 ywenty here couple winters ago, it became very dry atmosphere it was like being abroad ! I quite enjoyed it but after the thaw I relised just how much work it did add to the daily chore.

I know what you mean. Lowest it got to here was -21 ( in a bit of a frost pocket). The air was that cold it hurt to breathe. When it warmed up to -5 it felt tropical. The novelty of thawing water troughs soon wore off!
