Definitely not rabbits, none nearby. It's in all the dog pee patches on the lawn.
I did think too small and too tidy for badger.
We've had a recent resurgence of hedgehogs in the last year, and I've seen one a few times in the lambing shed which is just 100m away.
So how do I stop it...? Feed them lots?

That does look like badger to me. Ours plough up patches of the fields in little patches like that for grass roots in the spring. I don't know how you stop it unless you want to feed them or fence like mad. If you have pig nut grass in pasture they go nuts for it. The old sett we had ploughed three acres for it one year and wrote it off for two years.

Yes they go for our pig nuts too. Badgers will be getting hungry with lack of rain sending worms deep and the young will be coming out foraging now as well. If you have badgers your hedgehogs might not be around for long...

We have exactly the same and it is Badgers. I know for sure because I have driven in late at night and witnessed them doing it.
