can anyone come up with a reason why 3 litres of glypho would kill all the grass weeds/broadleave in a field but not touch the volunteer cereal ? not sure how much water was used as this is 2 fields that we contract drill for a customer n they sprayed it off trying to think of a reason.

i sprayed 3litres of glypho with flat fans 200litres/ ha in still conditions at 10k and it knocked the volunteers but they got over it:scratchhead: not happy as I have just had to spray them out again in the rape crop, putting it down to the fact they have taken an adjuvant out of it! :meh: Always something

it was sprayed of two weeks ago tomorrow , no haven't got any pictures these are really strong volunteers so I don't think they have come up post spraying... its getting drilled with beans this week anyway, we suggested they get there agronomist in to look but I didn't have much faith in him coming up with an answer..

Not that I could see , there agronomist is going to look this week
Pics would be helpful.
Two weeks isn't enough to have really dead plants of any description.
Could it be longer? Then you could easily have another flush of volunteers.

If the volunteers are growing more vigorously than other weeds it may be the stem extension issue, i.e. the plant is growing so quickly all the sap and nutrient movement is upwards, and you won't get total kill until there is downward movement to carry the glyphosate into the roots. That said you should still see symptoms of herbicide damage on the foliage even if the plants don't die.

Applied some shogun for volunteer barley in stubble turnips. Showed no signs of working for two weeks then it rained and there was some response. Only now 4 wks later do they look like I killed them. Funny old year.
