Bailey vs competition..

Looking at X2 high spec grain trailers, they will be used for nothing else. Have always been bailey, and they have always served us well so reluctant to change. Pricing up Stewart, Richard Western and Ktwo too, please don’t turn this into another trailer debate I’m not interested in any other brands this is short listed on personal preference. Questions are as follows.
1) Heard mixed reports on the build quality of the new baileys, is this right? I assume the paint issues are now addressed, we have a ‘13 that isn’t great quality but a ‘15 which is good.
2) Are Stewart’s all they’re made out to be? I can’t really see any shout out features over the competitors and they seem to come with a much bigger price tag.
3) Heard from a few Westerns can be lively on the road, is that true or not? Also seen multiple pictures of poor paint on them too, is this still a issue?
4) Ktwo, I’ve heard no bad. Is there anything to watch out for?

I think Stewart which is supposed to be a premium brand has cheap Made sprung draw bar As against those others above
also small grain hatch if you use it

We have just bought two Stewart’s this time. Very impressed with the build quality . Delivered early. Ride on the road is superb. GX18 and a GX16L

Can’t comment on Baileys or Stewart just had a AW far better than the Richard Western we run also pull Ktwo for another contractor real nice trailer

Stewart trailer I found on a farm in Devon, looks pissss poor in chassis design where they have stepped the chassis rail thickness towards the front of trailer.

New Bailey here for grain only. Rides lovely, oversize front window which is Great for grain carting. Paint seems good, never sits out though. All options are listed with prices on website which I like. Look the best out of all you mention in my opinion, and will hold its money well. God knows why everyone raves about Stewart’s, they look a bit “agricultural” to me ....

Any of those 3 would be decent.we have a Stewart done thousands of tonnes an miles.tows great on the road with 16 tonne.the only thing you have to watch for.is where the mud guards are ask them to cap the box section.so dirt doesn't go up them an rot it from the in side.

I prefer Western to Bailey, especially in the 16 tonne size. Kept thinking the Bailey was going to tip over on our uneven roads, the suspension springs are too soft.

Bailey ride better than RW and definitely better than the Stewart with the bouncy drawbar, can't comment on ktwo.

We have 4 of the latest TB18's and can't see any problems, paint alot better now, and the 2012 trailer we had a paint problem with they took back and resprayed so now like new.

We tow a wide range of trailers and Stewart are the only make none of the drivers want to tow

I saw a KTwo on the road recently, looked nicely thought out.

Richard Western stuff always looks a bit vanilla to me and the other brand has been mentioned rather a lot on this forum for my liking.

Surely if you pay all that money paint should be fine anyway

It’s ridiculous how it should even be mentioned regarding paint on Ag machinery. Too many cut corners, look at jcb’s and their black paint. It’s awful, if you were to buy a car with the same quality paint it would be going back no questions asked..

How bad would the paint have to be not to be able to cope with hauling a bit of grain around on a few sunny days and spending the rest of the time in a shed?!

Very very faded and one hell of a lot of flaking on the headboard, no primer underneath either.

New Stewart here this time, I wouldn't buy another bailey now, the ride is so much better. The bailey I have puts the fear of God in me on some corners or slopes, whereas the Stewart I hardly know its behind me

Before you decide take a look at Braughan, they have almost taken over the Irish market.

Ktwo everytime for me. You don't no they are on the back they tow so well, plenty of metal in them and unbeatable paint. Also very easy to wash as they have smooth external sides.

this makes me laugh drive to what you have on the back and dont eploy muppetts especially those who have been or going to harpur , all these trailers are good its the boys towing them that are the problem, just look on the wreckers thread!
