Bucket loads grown in aus...grown from broadacre to swapy country...a few sow the wetter areas of farm down here with it...grows under water...need a good irg to put with it...stolons stretch out 2 metres here...

I don't know much about it but but speaking to seed rep this morning he tells me it's hard to kill (hard seeding) with seed germinating over several years a disadvantage in a cover crop. Above average risk of disease & a greater risk to nematode/insects, does tolerate heavy wet soils though.

The hard seeding is one hell of an advantage in a grass field though, although perhaps not for those selling the seed. If it comes up in cereals after a cover crop, I would have thought any blw spray would take it out easily enough.

All very true apparently though it can germinate 3-4 years down the line after you think you have killed it off with a spray.

It's a very good soil conditioner and has a very good deep root system.

Hey, bloody good dose of a chlopyralid based herbicide will see any clover off forever, wouldn't worry about it being hard seeding.

I'm not sure customers would be that enthused with a crop that doesn't germinate at least in the same year they tried to plant it?
Depending on the crop you can kill clover quite readily with fluroxypyr a darn sight cheaper than clopyralid will cost you.

sounds like i need to export some seed - this year its cheap...like $10 AUS per ha at top rate..6 pound say - cheaper as a mix...

Grow an awful lot of it here. Fits into many situations. Good yield even in our 500mm rainfall country.
Hard seededness will mean it will continue to germinate over a number of years if it's allowed to set seed.
New seed will be scarified so most, if not all, should germinate in the first year.
