Bale/General Purpose Trailer For 100HP Tractor

I'm looking for a trailer for leading bales but also general purpose flat trailer jobs, I've got a 100HP tractor and there are no hills for miles around.
I'm a relative newcomer to all things tractor and trailer, it's never been my department before.
What length and width do I look for?

I do just that here with a 26 foot body trailer on tandem axles. She grunts a bit pulling 18 silage round bales up hills (two rows of 6 beside each other on the bottom with one central row on top) but handles 24 round straw bales well or a 12 tonne load. Any longer and it'd be a bit cumbersome.

Widths are all pretty standard at 8’, I’d have thought.

As to length, how good is your access in and out of gateways? I have a 24’ NC which is plenty long enough turning into some of our access gates. I get 3 8’ quads lengthways, as a tight/stable fit, giving 24 bales to a load. If you’re moving rounds, particularly wrapped, I get 5 bales long on either side, otherwise i’d Be snagging them when unloading.

As above, could get 3 more on every load on a 26’ trailer, but I wouldn’t get onto one block of land and I draw mine with a Merlo so wouldn’t want to load her up any more.

Once decided on size, buy the best spec you can afford (hence I only have an NC :D).

I wouldn't be as concerned with what it can pull as opposed to what it can stop. 32ft trailers seem to be the norm here, bar a few dolly 40ft the contractors use. Access and roads don't tend to be a problem though.

I have a little 21ft for leading on farm, just the job but never goes on the road.

Agreed. They should at least have fully functional hydraulic brakes to all wheels behind a 40k tractor. Air brakes would be a nice extra but a 100hp tractor is unlikely to have air brakes.
