Bale trailer or low loader?

I put bucket out by side and let it down slowly but I see a driver of mine going up just using his pedals and then letting it down of its own accord. I can’t stand watching it as I feel he has no control and besides I prefer one hand on levers and one to control the boom for that operation. I guess what I don’t like about my trailer is that I overhand 3 inches each side, and I feel the trailer does a lot of shaking and lurching and is not stable while been loaded. Is a triple axel a better job? Also the wheels are recessed an inch or two under the chassis and I feel that contributes to instability.
Does your trailer only have hydraulic brakes?
Having the trailer brakes on while loading makes a difference, if you have no air brakes I would suggest making an adapter so when you go to load excavator, uncouple the brakes and connect to a spool and pressurise them.

@wuddy Is it hydraulic beavertail or just hydraulic ramps? I'm thinking full beavertail with ally ramps so I can put a stock box on or use for straw without needing a wedge

@Andrew If I just wanted it for straw I'd probably put it on twin axles with 560/45r22.5 for the benefit on land, what does your trailer weigh empty? I wouldn't have thought a low loader would be "too light" but it is relative I suppose. 3 axles on 435 or 445 should be kind enough on tramlines I hope
The floor lifts in the beaver tail.

Or just pull handbrake on?

Would be very high ride height on the 560s I would have thought

Can’t remember tyre size off the top of my head but that sounds about right! Only got it at the start of the year so hasn’t done a great deal, it isn’t hard to turn can put it every where the twin axel 32ft bale trailer went! It handles really well on the road loaded with straw doesn’t rock about just sits there! And we can get both diggers on!! View attachment 880784

whats the deal here, they look like old torsion bar axles? (spring sits freely in guides and the bar here basically hold the axle in place)

ive got a trailer with them and parts are none existent?

do they still make them for certain applications?

Bog standard steel suspension. As supplied nearly as standard on most ag trailers. Parts available from just about any truck factors.

ive not seen another ag trailer with torsion(sorry torque bar) bars for years,

i looked on their website thats the only trailer in there whole range that does not have springs that are bolted like other ag stuff?

id be happy to see a link to some torsion bars who actually have them in stock!!! when i rung recently they laughed saying no one had even asked for them in years,

It’s commercial spec steel suspension, not the horrid ag stuff.

ha ha i assume granning only ag stuff,

when i spoke to truck mechanics/ breakers and parts suppliers they all said torque bars were long gone!

i might ring em and see how much they want and for them and get some dimensions look very similar to mine (y)

Granning is basically a copy of the old ROR, was the bees knees on HGV kit.
ADR and other manufacturers use the same design, but Stewart use Granning kit normally.

Also try Universal Components catalogue.

HGVs don’t use torque arms any more as air suspension has superseded them.
