bale unrollers

Couldn't compare it to others I'm afraid as I've only ever used a Wessex. Had it 3 years and had no real issues yet. Couple of weak points. Ours is offset to get it over the troughs, the front corner is quite easily caught and had broken a corner off the bearing carrier. Could do with being a bit beefier. Also we've have gas axed the plates off behind the tines as you couldn't get a socket on to tighten them.

As to the straw yes I think it would put a row of wads out.

They are bulky things. I bolted the headstock as far left as possible to try and centralise it a bit

I had a Wessex unroller with the straw attachment as well. The worst machine I have ever used or bought, traded it in for a hustler chainless in less than a year and countless repairs.

Similar to what I paid. One has to question why they look so new. Ours certainly won't wear out v quick!

We've had one for about 12mths, horrible machine.
I changed the way we used our barns to get more cattle through. This required something that bedded straw out sideways. Personally I have barely used it. The last time I could had strawed up 2x the amount with a pitchfork in less time.

Sheds have now reverted back the previous way. Back to the prime x bale spreader.

You lads saying about not working for bedding straw. They are a bale unroller that has the ability to bed down. It's primary role is to unroll a bale. Which it does perfectly well.

It like folk moaning there straw chopper is crap at blowing silage bales. It's perfectly fine at its primary role, with the ability to occasionally perform another task IMO.

I've got a Wessex unroller, it's pretty good, use it for silage and straw all winter for the last five years. I've given it some grief, carrying 2 bales at a time back from the stack on the tines, driving down bumpy tracks with a 700kg bale bouncing in the machine etc. It's always worked fine and on a pivot steer handler is great over awkward feed barriers. I have had to beef up the headstock here and there, it's quite lightly built... Well, either that or we've been too hard on it but it's still working fine.

I'd agree with that.
