As above Hollin do a simple one
I made one out of something similar to what you are looking at, and it works fine
BUT
Its LED and you struggle to see the display in the sun. So if you want to make one try and find a LCD display, but good luck with that

Hollin applications make a simple counter kit setup . with magnetic sensor, in-cab box, buzzer ect, which I believe is exactly what you are after.

thanks for that, I looked at theirs, was about to order one, and then my over active mind went: 'it cant be that hard to make one' !!!!

good point , I never thought of that, im glad im not the only one to attempt it,

4 layers is fine, cover bale once , then count 8 turns, when trying for 6 layers , I run out of fingers !

the first one would be good if it was 12v , the second would be better with a magnetic proximity switch ,

as for reset , it could be done with either a push button or rigged to a second proximity switch when the wrapper is tipped , signalling it to re start counting, in a perfect world it would be done with both so you could reset if you needed without tipping the bale off

Easy enough to step the voltage down so dont stress about that.
And remember its £8.99 not 800 and 99, so you need to be flexible.
Will the first one give you the desired output at the count required?

@John100 that 12volt counter looks ideal, good find

The 1.5v counter arrived in 9 days, the cable is short and will need to be extended, but it's just 2 core wire.
Not much to say about it, It seems very accurate, you watch it count, then push the reset for the next bale, very basic but its better than nothing.
The Hollins would be great with a buzzer and I think I'l order one

i made some of these counters for men from this led screen, works perfect a fit it into a black electronic project box, add a plug onto them, or i take the plug from the customers wrapper so then it is plug and play. I find that sometimes the sensor that comes with it is pure shite and when i make mine ou can set the enount of wraps on the screen for example 21, then it will give a small click and automatically reset itself back to 0
