are the nfu fighting this ?Government urged to scrap proposed plastic tax on silage wrap - Farmers Weekly
The government is facing calls to scrap a proposed plastic tax on silage bale wrap that would cost farmers £200/t. In December last year, HMRC publishedwww.fwi.co.uk
We pay 1.80gbp on plastic and 2.10gbp on net , do you have tax on net in FranceWe have the eco tax here, it is 4.50€ per roll. I did put a post up the other day with our price for this year. If we want it we just have to get on with it. Having said that I find farming more profitable here so perhaps another 20 cents a bale is more affordable or less painful. Having said that this years prices are going to make us make more hay.
I think so but I couldn’t tell you what it is, we buy through the co op and I just pay the bill when it comes. I only have an idea on the wrap because I was researching the price on line last week and they put it on their quotes as an extra. We pay 1.80gbp on plastic and 2.10gbp on net , do you have tax on net in France
hay and cornits not packaging , its a component of the manufacturing process
bale string however , looks like we'll be building hay ricks again
there must be some way of recycling big square bale string? Is there and I just don't know about it?its not packaging , its a component of the manufacturing process

going by previous NFU campaigns, they will agree with the idea of a tax, just say British farmers use less wrap than other countries!are the nfu fighting this ?

Never enough of that, is your farm not like mine, held together with that.there must be some way of recycling big square bale string? Is there and I just don't know about it?
Been posted before . You'll have to searchWhat evidence?
Lots use 6Rolls seem to be about 28kg.
Just over 35 rolls to the tonne.
About £5.60 per roll.
So getting on for 20p a bale at 4x layers.
This thread.Go on. Give us a clue. What thread title?
ive read an AHDB study into the losses and its near impossible to get losses with a pit system under 10% with higher field losses and wasteage around the edge, losses with bales are more like 2%, when you consider the cost of making silage with the current fert price why are these losses always overlooked in the bales v pit arguments? it costs us £2/bale o plastic currently, not as big a cost as many make out
Do you pay to dispose of ?Tax has been on wrap in ROI for some years now. Think it’s about €6/roll.
