Baler leaves a trail of grass behind!

Running a kuhn belt baler and it appears the silage/haylage almost falls back down the front to where the pick up is constantly, it gets worse as the density of the bale increases or when you stop for the net wrap theres almost a little pile of finely chopped grass.

i have half the knives in and there is some fine young grass im baling but i feel it shouldnt be left behind/ falling out the front of th in e baler back onto the top of the pick up.

Has anyone encountered this before?

im leaving a trailer of grass behind in the field!

TIA

how worn are the belts? grass can slip a lot more on smoother belts than new ones.

and how well does your pickup press work ?

belts are quite worn in fairness done a lot of bales not sure when they were last changed! The pick up works well! Baled hay like a dream last year, just been using it with the knives and on young grass and it seems fall down the front!

slipping could be part of the problem

my contractor is baling now and its the same....full knives on a fusion 3 and lots of loose grass everywhere....not a problem where youngstock can clear up but not very good on away ground....pickup reel wont ho any lower so what can u do?

Seen it really bad a few years ago on a belt baler there was too big a gap behind the bottom roller before the belts and it was dumping short grass back out onto the ground but they changed the design soon after . No experience of kuhn tho but I'd stop and see exactly where the pile is falling from

It literally falls out the front above where the pick up is and falls back onto the top of the pick up tines! When theres a big swaft it goes back into the bale but on small swaft or turning on the headland the majority falls to the ground! I will check tomorrow when i am baling some more and update

Sounds like it's pulling it back round the rotor to me I get that in very short dry straw but very rare in grass
