If you can bale it dry without dirt I would have some . We used to shift a lot but can't get it nowAnyone baling pea haulm after the viners have been through?
is it worth wrapping or leave it till crispy and then bale?
is it even worth baling
how many bales/acre are we likely to get?
cheers
No best bale it [emoji3]What about just putting cattle in the field once the Viners are out? Save baling it at all
Twin rotor rake and go like hell with the baler? We used a Vicon Acrobat to row it up when the ground is dry, leave it a day, then round bale it. You could nearly see milk running out of the bales, if you feed it to dairy cows.
The cattle will knock you over to get to it.
The only thing is that you have to travel a long way with a round baler to get a bale and it will be very dense and heavy by the time you have got a bale. Make sure the tyres on the baler, loader and trailers are well up to pressure!
We found an Acrobat got far more haulm/acre than a rake.Twin rotor rake and go like hell with the baler?
Think all the acrobats round here have been turned into the finest chinesium so it’s twin rake or nothing. We found an Acrobat got far more haulm/acre than a rake.
But it does need to be dry to avoid soil contamination.
We never wrapped it. It needs to be dry. I’d be worried that it isn’t dry enough if you need to wrap it.Does anyone recommend wrapping it or is it best to get it crispy dry and just bale it?
You can find them in farm sales occasionally.Think all the acrobats round here have been turned into the finest chinesium so it’s twin rake or nothing.
It will have dirt in whatever you do, haylage and dirt is like oil and waterDoes anyone recommend wrapping it or is it best to get it crispy dry and just bale it?
If it's that damp that you have to wrap it, there'll be a lot more soil stuck to it from rowing it up.It will have dirt in whatever you do, haylage and dirt is like oil and water
