Baling Rape Straw

I posted elsewhere to try and encourage a few and was surprised how many said they use it already and how good it is for bedding sheep and cattle , It would be a massive help if supplies to get tight latter on . This weather now is rather worrying

A lot of the rape straw near us is processed for horse bedding, the problem is the rows of chaff / pods left behind as the balers cannot sweep them up this causes big slug problems even after cultivating at angles to the rows .

Ive been contemplating baling rape and bean straw this year but wasn’t sure if there was a market. Maybe it appears one might be around.

Make sure the rape hasn't been sprayed with astrokerb, especially if the muck is going to end up on potato land
