Ball hitches for tractors

I’m looking at a second hand piece of machinery that has the weld on spoon type hitch, how much would a ball hitch cost to replace a pick up hitch hook?
With a mixed fleet I’ve got both dromone and saauerman hitches on tractors

The ball is the expensive bit. We got a couple for about £500 a few years ago. Ours is Dromone to fit JCB & Deere, transformed baling.
I reckon £650 each now

Depends on the tractor/hitch make not as bad as you would think for some models

Once used, there is no turning back! I would like a conversion for a JCB telehandler hitch, but have not yet found one so the bale trailer remains on ring and hook. Everything else is ball and spoon.

When you look at how soft JD hooks are it's almost like they are making the decision for you! At least ball + spoon can be greased properly and it stays relatively clean.

It’s ride quality and secure. Swivel ring hitches on trailers were good but every time I went to hook on they we’re twisted vertical .

There must be a way of sorting a telehandler hitch to make it compatible with ball and spoon?

No, this - 80 mm not 50mm or 2" - the 2" shown above became obsolete about 50 years ago.

So its a bigger spoon that a typical trailer or caravan... every day's a school day. Most of my kit has been obsolete about 50 years, I am still on Euro3 loader brackets

No, when you pick it up, the top jaw is locked against the fixed part of the pick up hitch.
