Ballasting a tractor

So we have a Case Puma 240 , I like to run her light as possible for top cultivations and drilling but need some extra weight to get power onto the ground to pull the trailed 3m trio

Okay I could put wheel weights on but I can see that once they are on they stay on , she will have a 900 kg weight up front on front linkage and I'm thinking about carrying a ballast weight on the rear linkage above the trio drawbar ,

So in the next day or two I will put her over a weighbridge to find out what axle weights she has , it's just a case of how much weight to put on the rear linkage ,

So
I'm like thinking that weight on rear linkage reduces load on front axle.
So, I'm like thinking it easier to adjust as well.

So, good luck whichever way you go.

Trailed sumo must be on hook? Ours is on linkage so can’t carry a weight just have a 850kg block/box on front on a puma 200 with 600 front and 710 rear tyres and grips ok
Yes trailed trio on hook , normally hire a Cat 55 for tugging trio but will do what we can with 240 , the demo 240 we had last year was scratching to much so we know we need some ballast to get the tyres to grip

We have a cherry Smartbox on a 240 with removable ballast and also wheel weights when required

Would it not be possible to fix trio drawbar to lower links and use weight transfer/draft control for traction instead of carrying ballast on rear links?

I have a set of rear wheel weights that I used to run on our puma 230 for just this job. Had 1250kg on the front and then used to put the big wheel weights on just for pulling the trio. They are in 2 parts with a 90kg carrier that would just stay on all year and then the bigger 300kg ones just bolt onto that. Only a 10 min job with a forklift and worth doing. Drop the tyre pressures a bit and we found it outpulled our old mx240 with that setup. They’ve not been used for 3 years now so feel free to make me an offer. Not a clue what they are worth or the specific weights of them right now as I’m away grabbing some sun!
