So, if its easy to block it - why does that happen - too slow PTO speed ? going to fast forward ? wet crop? crop too heavy? belt slipping?
Belt not tight enough, not enough revs, and maybe tines to close to the ground. Mounted conversion is much easier to get the height right with the top link, and it follows the ground better.

We used to do 8ft (conditioned) swaths, the day after cutting, in a heavy crop, at about 8k without any problems.
It was the only way we could get the old JD baler to bale silage. Spread it out and row it up again, and it wouldn't even look at it.

We had a mounted Lister ‘Hay Ted’ machine with two small castor wheels with screw adjusters to set the working height. I never got to use it in hay but it did a great job of aerating small straw swathes behind the old combines up to about 13’ cut.

We always called it ’the wuffler’, but I thought it was far better than the trailed Bamford machine as you could lift it clear at headlands etc.

Anyone able to confirm the belt part number for a wuffler? Does D152 sound correct
Probably yes. Last belt we got that was supposed to fit was a D148

Didn't have time to take it back and order another one, so we cut the gearbox mount off and welded it back on 2in to the left 🤠

All the smart arses on here making derisory comments about the wuffler should try shaking out 10 acres of hay with its predecessor (a fork). They would soon be singing its praises!
Nicholaon shaker was around long before the wuffler. Can remember using one that had been converted from horse drawn when I was a kid. Dad always said wuffler was invented by oil companies to use more diesel.
